Sullivan County Veterans Park Dedication Ceremony

Veterans Day in Veterans Memorial Park Abingdon, VA

 

Virginia’s First Gold Star Families Marker to be dedicated. Guest speakers will be Lizzie Mann and Barbara Smith, Co-Chairs of the Abingdon Garden Club Gold Star Memorial Committee. Kings Mountain Chapter of the SAR participated in the ceremony to honor our Veterans and Gold Star Families.

Sullivan County Veterans Park to open with ceremony on Monday

 

The ceremony, hosted by the Battle of Blountville Civil War Military Park Association, will take place at 4 p.m. at the Heritage Tourism Information Center, also known as the "Old Sheriff's Home," at 1575 State Route 394 in Blountville.  One of the monuments to be dedicated was donated by the Kings Mountain Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution listing all of the Patriots of the Revolution from Sullivan County Tennessee.

October Meeting Canceled

Chapter President Alan Bell has cancelled the October chapter meeting.  With the chaos of the tragic events of the past weeks, we have not met the minimum number for food service for this month.


​We look forward to our November meeting which will take place on Nov 14.  State president Joel Davenport will be our guest in November and we encourage everyone to attend.  Details and meeting notice will be sent later.

Patriots Grave Marking - Wytheville, VA

 

The New River Valley Chapter invites all to attend the dedication of the memorial placed to honor eight Patriots of The American Revolution interned at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Wytheville Virginia. The ceremony will include a wreath presentation followed by a musket salute from the Virginia SAR color Guard.

The 8 Patriots:  PVT Christopher Brown Sr. (1751–1816);  PVT Nickolas Darter (1746–1821); PVT Daniel Etter (1752–1805); PVT George Daniel Flohr (1756–1826); CPT John Harkrader (1750–1837); PVT John Casper Rader Sr. (1731–1811); PVT Christopher Simmerman (1746–1813); PVT John Jacob Repass (1737–1814)

Attended by Alen Bell, Chapter Pres., Robert Waugh and Rob Richmond of the Kings Mountain Chapter of the Tennessee Society of the SAR.
