Meeting - Allen Burdette will present "The U.S. Navy and the Revolution" - October 8 @ 6:00PM

The meeting will be held on October 8, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Tipton-Haynes State Historic Site in Johnson City. Our speaker will be chapter member 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲, who will present "𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗨.𝗦. 𝗡𝗮𝘃𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻".

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗨.𝗦. 𝗡𝗮𝘃𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
Burdette’s presentation will provide a brief history of the events that led to the establishment of the Continental Navy and its initial deployment against the British during the American Revolution. He will also discuss the exploits of John Paul Jones, the most famous captain of the Continental Navy and one of the best-known American naval commanders of the Revolutionary era.

𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿
Allen Burdette is a 20 year veteran of the United States Navy. A 1972 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, he completed flight training in Pensacola and served in several helicopter squadrons. His naval career included deployments aboard a number of ships, including the forward deployed aircraft carrier USS Midway in Japan. He retired from the Navy in 1993.

Following his naval career, Burdette earned a master’s degree in Engineering Management from George Washington University and worked as a sales executive for a large German conglomerate. After retiring from that position in 2022, he helped establish a small recruiting company, from which he retired in September 2026.

Burdette is a member of the Kings Mountain Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution, where he has served as Chapter Registrar. He has also served as Registrar for the Tennessee Society Sons of the American Revolution (TNSSAR).

We meet on the second Thursday @6:00PM of each month in Tipton-Haynes Historic Site, 2620 S Roan St, Johnson City, TN. A Buffet Dinner is served $20/person (pay at door - cash or CC). All Members and Guests are Welcome. Please contact David Carr to make Reservations.
